After much searching I settled on Pazera. The price was right, and the majority of comments were favorable. I'm very satisfied, with the only exception being...my converted files are a bit dark. Will add more lighting and try tweaking the output a bit, but overall very satisfied.
It's a shame Microsoft didn't bother to add support for MOV files, but I guess when you're the biggest bully on the block you can do what you damn well please.

is anyone else having a problem with the output file being rotated 90 degrees?
Converting a .mov file from iPhone 4. it converts to a file that I can open in Windows Movie Maker, but the image is on its side. Don't see any way to adjust the orientation.
Is there a setting I'm missing? |

With the "MOV to AVI Converter 1.2" (different from the the AVS video converter) I don't get any watermarks. Make sure you're clicking the blue "download" and not the big red "free download". |

Thanks to the following comment posted earlier I was able to convert my Quicktime .mov files to .avi:
I changed the Video Codec setting in the Output File Format/Video Settings section (bottom left section of window) from the default setting (xVid 1.2.1) to WMV Version 1 (WMP 7) and I've had no problem covering since. |

Ok how is everyone getting around the big banner/watermark that's imprinted in the middle of the converted video without paying to activate the program? I assume there is no way around it but the way everybody talks about how great the program is and how it really is free, there must be something I'm missing, correct? Or is everyone out there really ok with the middle of their video being taken up by an ad? |

I downloaded pazera on another laptop with no problems. I needed my mov's to be avi's for a movie program. Yet before I finished the movie, I deleted all the mov files to clear up much needed space. This made the movie not able to find the video files at all! HELP PLEASE!
Also, I reinstalled Pazera on my other laptop to try again. I have tons of mov's I need to convert to avi, but when converted the avi's have green typing on the top and some are quite blurry. HELP PLEASE!

I tried to convert a MOV file to AVI and MPEG, both times it didnt worked at all. With MPEG Windows couldnt open the file at all and in AVI it justed converted the audio??? What am i doing wrong??
Any further help section would be great on this page. |

This is the only converter I have tried and I found it to be excellent.
I have converted .MOVs recorded by my Lumix camera into both .AVIs and .MPEGs. All the AVIs are great but I got no sound with the .MPEGs until I used PAL-VCD and 2 pass encoding settings.
I recorded them (MPEGs) to a CD and they played in one of two DVD players.
A top result - I'm delighted.

Does anyone know how to get this application to support multi core CPUs ? This would presumably make encoding much quicker.
It looks like adding the "-threads 2" command line option to ffmpeg will enable dual CPU support, but the ffmpeg version supplied with v1.2 this application doesn't seem to support this - it gives an error "not complied with pthread support"
I tried a few newer versions of ffmpeg but they just give errors when running with this program. Has anyone found a way of getting pazera's app to support multi CPUs ?

When I first went to convert a .mov file to a .avi so that I could use Windows Movie Maker to edit the movie, the conversion didn't work because a codec was missing.

Easy to install and operate. Converts my HD and SD .mov files shot from my Contour HD Helmet Cam to .avi and mpeg files easily. I need to edit these clips with Pinnacle Studio but have codec issues as well. Can't get the converted .avi or .mpeg-1/.mpeg-2 files to play in Windows Media Player, Apple QT, Movie maker, Adobe Premier or Pinnacle Studio. I'm converting from MOV to AVI so Windows MovieMaker can read the video, but I keep getting the following error msg: The file D:\DCIM\100KC713\100_0383_003.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
I opened WMM and clicked on the Options box to automatically import the codec, but 3 times and closing down and opening, I keep getting this error. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time and help. |

hi. my new camera came with a cd but NO damm program to let me view the movies!! i dont have the Apple Quicktime on my pc. why should i? i own a Window pc. so i tried this program. there are issues but i found .. for me .. the MOV to Mpeg was far superior. the Q is very good and theres options for adjusting the bitrate to get the best results. i still have problems viewing the files on a tv .. via a dvd player .. but at least on the pc i can view the MOV files now. ps. i also tried the MP4 to avi and that works fine too. all the best. |

I have used this program and am haveing a problem with sound when i click on MPG and use either pal svcd or NTSC SVCD i get a good picture and no sound and when i use the vcd i get sound but the picture is grainy and when i use DVD i get a good picture but the sound is like the person is on helium. After long investigation I finally found this program and hoped, it would solve my problem, but it wouldn't do what I expect.
I'm using a "Canon Powershot SX10 is". Movies made with this camera produce .MOV files (H.264), which cannot be edited.
My Idea is, to convert to .AVI and edit with "Windows Movie Maker". The achieved .AVI file however cannot be played back, in Windows Media Player I don't get a picture.
I'm completely inexperienced with movie matters and don't know which settings I need for the conversion. Can anyone give some advise?

Sad! it's not actually free. If you don't "activate" (pay for) the software, it creates a watermark on the video. Not cool!

For the ones getting sound a no video this is what i did . In the botton left hand corner of the Pazera page switch to MPG ,pal-vcd and i checked the 2-pass box. After doing these adjustments my converted files were now mpeg and worked fine .I tryed to find other information on this program so i would be able to no how to use it betterbut was unable to find anything. |

Hello, I just tried the programme and although I unzipped ALL the exe files together with all the other files in the zip file into one folder it did not work. I do not know exactly what I am doin wrong since in the unzipping process there can hardly be done anything wrong. In my programme folder are the following files: ffmpeg.exe, ffmpeg_info.txt, ffmpeg_license.txt, ffmpeg_x264.exe, gpl-2.0.txt, movtoavi.exe, movtoavi_audio_bitrates.txt, movtoavi_fourcc_tags.txt, movtoavi_resolutions.txt, the Readme.txt and a folger called "profiles" that contains all the ini files. Is there a help file anywhere? I am a bit desperate because all the positive feedbacks sound so good ...
