I would like to respond to some of the commentors on this webpage...

to jopro: I have found that when I have a FLV video that has something wrong with its internal file quality, I have the problems that you describe; however, perhaps if you break the file down and convert say half of it at a time and then rejoin it after you have converted all of it. Personally, I think that FLV video format is pretty limp and lame anyway; however, sadly, it has become the current standard on various internet websites. So, my experience with FLV video is that it is not Jacek's program here; but instead, it is the original FLV file quality.

to cosmic: WTF? $59?? If you paid $59 for this program, someone ripped you off! Mine was totally free! However, I do strongly suggest to donate to old Jacek! Donations will help Jacek to remain at the grinding wheel, churning out more of his great software!

to aplav: if you are having any sort of trouble with either seeing the video or hearing the sound after conversion, then you have missing codecs, end of story. Either look up K-lite and download a free codec pack, or press the "more info button" on this software and a webpage will open up to give a great deal of information about video codecs. Microsofts media player claims to automatically download codecs, but most of the time it down, even if you have it set to do so. WMP sucks half the time, if you ask me. Just find some codec packs and install them, and that should solve your problem.

Also, there are other media softwares that I am aware of that grab onto files. InCD is one of the worst examples that I can give, concerning this problem. If you have other software applications, programs or processes that are running, either kill them in your task manager, or if that is not effective, then find and download a program called, "Unlocker 1.8.8". Use that to free up a file that is being grabbed by some other rouge program or even Windows Explorer itself! Sometimes Windows acts like malware, I think!

Anyway, my experience with FLV convertion has not been all that great in the past until I found Mr. Pazera's software here! I will say this: Jacek Pazera's programs kick ass and take names the first time around! His software apps don't screw around in the least! They get the job done right every time! I doubt you could ever find a better video conversion software than his, even if you had to pay hundreds of dollars for it! So, I strongly suggest to give old Jacek a donation, so that he is able to keep his work fresh and alive for all our benefits!

However, Mr. Pazera, I would like to request that you develop a DVD ripper software program too.

I give Pazera's software a 7 STAR RATING and a 21 GUN SALUTE! Jacek Pazera obviously knows what he is doing with software design! I also appreciate the fact that his software is easy to use and learn, even if you are a beginner. I just hate software with a bunch of phony skins. Jacek Pazera has really great software, so he don't need any false pony show in order to hide his software under a bunch of limp & lame skins! Therefore: you will not be disappointed with his GREAT SOFTWARE here!!! I encourage everyone to use it and donate to the old fellow!!!

Mr Pazera, I want to take a moment to THANK YOU for this really great software! Your software is the BEST there is! I have tried other freeware versions; however, yours totally controls the outcomes of the file quality in accordance with the actual settings that I pre-set.

For example, on other lesser video conversion software, I hate setting the audio codec to 320 kb/s and it only comes out to be 128 kb/s, etc. However, whatever settings that you pre-set Pazera's software at, will be exactly what you get as outcome! Also, if you have problems or blemishes in the FLV file quality that you are trying to convert, seemingly this software fixes those problems too! I have had FLV video that I have had archived for years that I have never been able to find any converter that could successfully convert it, due to some sort of problem with the FLV file innards; but, Pazera's FLV converter totally solved that problem and MORE! Pazera's software is the absolute and final answer to high quality video conversion ware!

To "the commentor, "file access denied", (dated 2010-04-23, 09:45:28), my best guess as to why you are being denied is that the file you are trying to convert is being grabbed onto by some other program or process in your computer. Check your AV. If you have to, create a folder that is excluded from real-time protection by your AV, and do your conversion work there. I have noticed that AV technology has gone down hill over the past few years, and most of them are now insane resource hogs anyway. There needs to be some sort of AV that knows the difference between the actual computer user and a hacker or malware from the internet; however, I have not found that AV yet!

Also, there are other media softwares that I am aware of that grab onto files. InCD is one of the worst examples that I can give, concerning this problem. If you have other software applications, programs or processes that are running, either kill them in your task manager, or if

I do have a problem. Converting a long flv file (2:59:10, 510MB) that plays well on FLV players, the Converter converts it only to about 1:25:00 and then the video looses frames, it looks like it converts only 1 fr/sec... sound continues normal, conversion cuts off at 1:50:10.. (converted file size is about 1.5GB, length shows correct time, ie. 2:59:10)  This happens with AVI and MPEG conversions. I have tried a couple of different codecs, to no avail so far. Any thoughts??

This is actually a pretty simple and effective program. I don't know what all the people mean who say this is only good for small conversions, I've used it to convert several five and six minute long files.

works perfectly - if you're converting to avi, expect BIG output files - this is not the fault of the converter as avi files are huge by default - its best to convert to avi to get the best quality. excellent tool!

It works fine for me on Win 2k.....and what surprised me is that it will convert not just .flv source files, but pretty much anything else - I can just drag and drop .avi, .mpg, or .mov files into the opened program and it seems quite happy to convert them for me :-) So it's more like a universal transcoder, though obviously it'll only create .mpg and .avi.

My only criticism so far is that there doesn't seem to be a help file anywhere. Not a big problem because most if it is pretty easy to understand after working with it for a while, but there are a few mysteries, e.g. if you set a conversion parameter (such as framerate) to "auto," is that parameter then unchanged in the output file, or not? But no worries, a few experiments will soon tell me what's going on.

I tried to convert a 30fps file to 25fps, which worked, but the motion was rather jerky.....that's not really a criticism though, because I can't see any way of dropping one frame out of every six that's not going to introduce a bit of unevenness into the movement.

I like the way it just runs as a simple .exe file without all this "windows installer," registry entries etc. Very useful if you're using a company PC that restricts the installation of unapproved software, and very easy to remove it without a trace - just delete the folder and it's gone.

The profile load/save feature is very helpful - much better than having to set all the parameters every time you use it for a different job.

Verdict - so far, so good, and every bit as good as some of the apps that they charge money for.

I'm going to try some of the suggestions above but my problem is on XP "this program has created an error and must close" keeps coming up. It gives me the option to debug the problem but being windows when you hit the debug button, I guess the info goes off to some log file somewhere but the log file never opens and I haven't been able to find the log file. Who knows it might be sending the info to microsoft. Anyway keep up the good work. I know that eventually this program will stabalize and then your talents will be internet wide.

This program is great, and it's free too, unlike all the other programs which you have to sign up for and has heaps of viruses.

For those who have a problem (I've experienced a few), there are some solutions:

1) If after you converted your video, there is only sound, then you have to change the video codec property. If you are on a Windows XP or something like that, then change the codec to WMV version 2. Otherwise, just try all of them... one of them should work for your computer.

2) If it says could not find file, you might have accidentally moved the program from its folder. Keep EVERYTHING in the one folder - program, program configuration settings, program run... everything.

I hope this helped, since a lot of people were asking...

HELP! After Ive converted the .flv file I am getting absolutely no picture at all, only sound! Have tried playing it in Windows Media Player & VLC. When I was converting it prompted me to install 2 components which I did.

I used a different converter last night on the same file which converted it no problem, but due to poor video quality that is why Im trying this software, so I at least know the .flv file is ok.

Works great, small size, fast, simple best of all it's free. It's like a professional converter, gives you lots of options.. and can convert all the videos that you want at once... It's awesome

I tried with various settings 6 different times.

every time the video was pixelated beyond being viewable.

Guess I'll have to go back to looking ...

Works great for me, but you have to have the right video and audio codecs selected. For me these worked: Video codec --- H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
Bitrate --- Auto
FPS --- Auto
Check 2-pass encoding
Audio codec --- MP3 ?MPEG-1 Layer 3 ? LAME 3.97
Bitrate --- Auto
Sampling freq. --- Auto
Channels --- Auto
Advanced settings --- Auto
Thanks Jack, great job!

thanks jamowa 52!!
I didnt understand why it worked great the first time, but when I used it again it said CANOT FIND FILE.
Its because I had deleted the other folders to clean up my desktop.
I put everything in the same folder and now it works great!

After conversion to mpg file, it does'nt work properly with all players. No sound and no picture; for instance, WINAMP does'nt read correctly the file *.mpg.
But anyway, we can read it with media player classic.
Simple to use it.

Jeff - just figured it out. Ini file is looking for ffmpeg.exe, which is located in the zip. Extract both ffmpeg.exe & flvtoavi.exe into the same folder at the same time. Then SW works.

At first I just dragged flvtoavi.exe into folder and it didn't work. Then I dragged ffmpeg.exe into folder and SW still didn't work. So I deleted both .exe and any .ini files in the folder.

Looks like both .exe files have to be extracted at same time into same folder for it to work. Conversion is pretty good....definitely viewable.

I am having exactly the same problem as jamowa52. The software tells me over and over again that it "could not find file." Yet the file is definitely there!! What on earth could the problem be????

Can't get it to work. Extracted flvtoavi.exe to folder in programs. Selected .flv file from local drive and every time Conversion window opens and says "Could Not Find File". How hard can it be? Status says its converting but nothing happens. Bummer.

I have just tried your product on a batch of (8) 10-minute FLV files and I must say that it has done an excellent job.

The settings are very straightforward and the program seems to be very easy to use.

I have one feature suggestion----could you add a file merge feature that would merge all of the output files into one AVI file instead of separate files?

In any case, thanks for making a nice, easy-to-use program for this type of conversion.

This is only good for about a 20 second conversion. For large files, it's pretty worthless.
